Tech Tools or Features Available Now

Technology is an ever changing landscape.  In an effort to educate everyone on services, tools, and new features, OIT has compiled the list below:

  1. Microsoft Teams has project management and task tracking tools for individuals and teams through Microsoft Planner. Other project management tools are also supported (more info).
  2. Zoom AI Companion - Zoom AI Companion is the only AI meeting tool that has been reviewed for security and compliance and is approved for low-risk university use. The features include Meeting Summaries, Meeting Questions, Smart Recording, and Whiteboard Content Generation (more info).
  3. Zoom Clips - Zoom Clips features allow users to record both video and screen content and edit and share videos internally and externally (more info).
  4. Office.uidaho.edu/OneDrive – Every employee is provided with shareable cloud storage for files on OneDrive (more info).  
  5. VPN – when you are away from a UI location and need to access resources that require you to be on the UI network, you can use VPN (more info).
  6. Eduroam – eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming wireless access service developed for the international research and education community that allows people from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across UI and when visiting other participating institutions (more info).
  7. Software Center (Windows) or Self-Service (MacOS) – on University managed machines you can install applications or other software packages without the need for administrator rights.
  8. Sophos Personal license – Sophos provides a free personal use license through the University for use on home computers (more info). 
  9. Adobe Licensing – The University of Idaho has licensing for Adobe Creative Cloud and Acrobat Sign.  Licenses are currently assigned directly to Faculty; staff must self enroll for a license (more info)
