Below you will find security anti-virus and VPN software offered by the Office of Information Technolgy. Sophos Antivirus is offered at no extra cost for installation on University of Idaho owned computers.

Sophos Anti-Virus Software:

Sophos Antivirus for Personal Machines

Any university account can claim a code to use Sophos Home for use on personal machines. This is for home and personal use ONLY as OIT will have no audit or management access to this software. This is not to be installed on university-managed equipment.

Sophos Antivirus for Windows (UI-Owned Machine)

OIT offers Sophos Antivirus to all University of Idaho-owned machines, and should be installed by default. For personal machines, please see the Sophos Home download link above. To manually install on a UI Windows machine, open SoftwareCenter on your computer, look for the Sophos antivirus package, and install it. Sophos Antivirus for Mac (UI-Owned Machine)

OIT offers Sophos Antivirus to all University of Idaho-owned machines only. For personal machines, please see the Sophos Home download link above. To install on a UI Mac machine, open Jamf "Self Service" on your computer, look for the Sophos antivirus package, and install it.

VPN Client Software:

OIT uses the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client to allow secure, encrypted network connectivity directly to the university network. Before you can download the VPN client, please contact your TSP, Sysad or the Student Technology Center stating your reason for requesting VPN access.

Cisco AnyConnect for Windows

The Windows AnyConnect client for Windows works on Windows 10 and 11

The Windows AnyConnect client for Mac works on OS X version 10.15 and higher.

Cisco AnyConnect for Linux 64-bit

The Linux AnyConnect client works on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7+ 64-bit, Ubuntu 14.x/16.x/18.x 64-bit. Other distributions may work but have not been tested.

To purchase a software license such as Adobe products (Acrobat Pro DC, Creative Cloud and individual applications) and Microsoft products (Power BI Pro, Project, Visio and Visual Studio) use New Software Procurement Request.
