The University of Idaho offers the following network services to UofI students, employees, and contractors:

This WiFi service is available at all UofI buildings, most research and education institutions across the United States and internationally, and many public spaces. When on a UofI campus or at the Pullman Moscow Regional Airport terminal, the service is managed by UofI OIT and provides equivalent UofI network access as AirVandalGold. When on a non-UofI campus users receive guest WiFi service. This service requires login with a UofI account.

WiFi – Campus Request
It is possible to add standard UofI managed WiFi to a campus, or building. This service costs a minimum of $600. This requires a minimum of 10/10 Mbps broadband internet service and an existing network wall plate. This request will be reviewed by OIT and will require a budget index.
WiFi - Custom SSID Request
It is possible to create a custom SSID with special access restrictions and capabilities. This typically costs $600. This request will be reviewed by OIT and will require a budget index.
AirVandalGuest
Guest WiFi service is offered in most U of I buildings. This service requires verified contact information each day. Guest WiFi access is reset at 3am pacific time.

AirVandalGuest Event Code Request
For multi-day conferences, events, and group meetings, it is possible to create an event code that will provide Guest WiFi service for multiple consecutive days. This request will be reviewed by OIT and should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event.

Wired Network Service
Wired network access is provided in Uof I buildings. Devices must be registered. University owned equipment will be registered by UofI IT.

Wired internet access is provided in UofI living group buildings. Devices must be registered. Registration requires login with a UofI account.

The UofI OIT has defined a Structured Cabling Standard for all data cabling in UofI owned buildings.

Network Wall Plate Request
It is possible to have a network wall plate added to a UofI building. This typically costs $1,000. This request will be reviewed by OIT and will require a budget index.

VPN - custom group request
It is possible to create a custom VPN group with special access restrictions. This service requires login with a UofI account. This request will be reviewed by OIT.
Network Firewall - Employee
UofI IT provides a network firewall on most employee networks. This firewall permits most outbound network access, but blocks most inbound network access. This firewall may allow remote access to devices with wired connections via RDP, or SSH, over VPN.
Network Firewall – Student/Guest
UofI IT provides a basic network firewall on all student and most guest networks. This firewall permits most outbound network access, but blocks most inbound network access.
Internet Server, Firewall Administration Request
UofI IT provides the ability for Internet Server administrators to manage customer network firewall rules. This service has multiple requirements and will be reviewed by OIT.

Network Management System (NMS) Access Request
UofI IT provides the NMS tool to allow network device administration, including managing Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDN), FWQN Aliases, and assignment of network subnets and Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs). This service has multiple requirements and will be reviewed by OIT.
