How to use the VPN with iOS (iPhone)?

Overview

The Cisco AnyConnect client is available for mobile iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads. This tutorial will walk you through installing and using the mobile AnyConnect client.

 

Installing the VPN Client

Step 1

Search for Cisco AnyConnect in the Apple App Store and install the client.

Install the client from the app store.

Step 2

Once the Cisco AnyConnect client has been installed, press Open (or find it among your icons).

Step 3

You will be prompted if you want to let the AnyConnect client extend the VPN capabilities of your device. Press OK.

Step 4

Add a VPN Connection and give it a Description and enter vpn.uidaho.edufor the server address.

Connecting to the VPN

Step 1

Now that your connection has been created, select it from the connection list.

Step 2

Select the VandalVPN group and enter in your username and password. If you use Duo push, you should be prompted to approve. Otherwise, for more information on accessing the VPN with Duo, please see How do I use the VPN with Duo?

Step 3

You should now be connected to the VPN client. A VPN logo will appear in the status bar. An additional VPN profile will be installed by default and will be the default for future connections.

Step 4

To return to the client to connect/disconnect, just find the AnyConnect icon and select it.
