Why was my Microsoft 365 Application "Approval required" request denied?

Overview

The University of Idaho automatically blocks all applications which request permissions to access Microsoft 365, previously known as Office 365. This is done to enforce identity and security policies. An "approval request" may be submitted for review and it is possible the request may be denied.

Approval request deny message for an application requesting mailbox access to an employee account:

The university must comply with data management regulations including third party access. These regulations include federal and state laws; creating and disposing of student records; securing research materials and more. Access to employee email is restricted to Microsoft Outlook. Installation information is available at https://support.uidaho.edu/
