How to connect Nintendo products to AirVandalGuest?

Connecting Nintendo Switch to AirVandalGuest 

  1. Go to system settings from the HOME menu 

  

The Image here shows how to locate "system settings"

 

  1. Scroll down through the menu and select "Internet" 

  2. The Nintendo Switch console's MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address" (should be 12 digit/letters with dashes xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx) EX: 32-15-4B-94-B5

  1. Now go to https://help.uidaho.edu/avsetup/ 

  2. Fill in the website info 

    1. NetID: beginning of email 

    2. NetID password: email password 

    3. The device MAC address  

    4. Your vandal email 

    5. Select wireless device 

    6. Check the box for network agreement 

    7. Wait 15 minutes 

     

  3. Select System Settings from the HOME Menu

  1. Select Internet, and then Internet Settings

The Nintendo Switch will automatically search for near by WiFi signals 

 

  1. Select AirVandalGuest 

  2. Put in password: GoVandals! 

  3. The switch will auto test the connection

  1. Then your good to go! Have fun! 

    1. *Note* Retest internet from time to time as the switch will sometimes manually kick you off. Your device is still registered, you just have to reconnect. 

      1. Just go back to internet and hit test connection.

Connecting Nintendo 3DS to AirVandalGuest 

~ First: Find the MAC WiFi Address: 

  1. From the HOME menu, highlight and select the System Settings Icon

  1. Select Internet Settings

  1. Tap Other Information

  1. Tap Confirm MAC Address. Your system's MAC Address will be displayed on the screen.

~Second: Now go to https://help.uidaho.edu/avsetup/  

Fill in the website info  

a.       NetID: beginning of email  

b.      NetID password: U of I password  

c.       The device WiFi  MAC address   

d.      Your Vandal email  

e.       Select wireless device  

f.        Check the box for network agreement  

g.      Wait 15 minutes  

~Third: Connect Device 

  1. From the HOME menu, tap on the System Settings icon.

  1. Tap Internet Settings.

  1. Tap Connection Settings

  1. Tap the New Connection option.

  1. Tap Manual Setup when the prompt asks if you would like help with the Internet connection setup.

  1. Tap Search for an Access Point.

  1. Once the search has completed, locate and tap the name of your wireless access point. 

    1. If your wireless network is not in the list, or if no wireless networks are displayed, please review our information for Unable to Find a Wireless Access Point

  2. When prompted, use the keyboard that appears on the lower screen to enter your security key and tap OK when finished. (Password: GoVandals!)  If you are not prompted to enter a security key, skip to the next step. 

 

  1. Did you receive the error message Is the data you entered incorrect?

  1. Tap OK to save your settings.

  1. Tap OK again to begin a connection test.

  1. Was the connection test successful? 

 

~The connection test was successful - Your system is now connected online. Have fun! 

~The connection test was not successful - If the test was not successful, you will receive an error code.
