How do I change the PIN on an Aegis Encrypted USB drive?

Overview

This article covers how to change the PIN on an Aegis encrypted drive. New PINs should be minimum of 12 digits long to meet U of I standards.

Important! The PIN should not be an easy to guess number, such as a phone number or the drive's serial # printed on the back. Do not tape or write the PIN on the drive or case.

Step 1

Step 2

Press the unlock and "1" buttons together until red LED begins to blink, about 5 seconds.

Step 3

Enter the current PIN again and press the unlock button. The blue LED will glow and the green LED will blink.

Step 4

Enter a new PIN and press the unlock button. The blue LED will turn off temporarily and the green LED will blink 3 times rapidly.

Step 5

Re-enter the new PIN and press the unlock button. If the second PIN entry matches the first, the blue LED will turn off and the green LED will glow solidly for a few seconds before starting to blink. If this happens, the PIN was successfully changed.

If the second PIN does not match what was entered the first time, the red LED will blink for a few seconds, then green LED will begin to blink. Repeat the process in this article starting at Step 2 and try again.
