Overview
When attempting to sign-in to services like MyUI, users may encounter one of these errors:
- UDC Id not available
- ERP Identifier claim not in SAML
- Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.
These errors are displayed when the user does not have personal identity information available in the signed in account.
The UDC ID is the unique ID number that is used for accessing MyUI and Banner. The UDC ID is populated in an Active Directory attribute for accounts marked as "personal" in the University of Idaho Account Tracking System. Non-personal accounts are explicitly blocked to avoid impersonating the account owner. Unfortunately, the error messages are not something we can customize at this time.
In most cases, If a user receives this error on sign-in, they are using an account not marked as a "personal" account.
Microsoft Entra ID allows users from external organizations to sign-in to access shared resources like OneDrive, Teams, etc. This access has been extended to some services available through Ellucian. Have the user sign-in through a private browser window using their personal @uidaho.edu or @vandals.uidaho.edu account. In many cases it is good to have the user create a separate browser profile for their @uidaho.edu account.
The error message is similar to this and will state the "Ellucian Ethos Identity - PROD" application. An external user can be identified with "#EXT#@vandalsuidaho.onmicrosoft.com".

The error message is:
Error
UDC Id not available

The error message is:
The system configured for external authentication and identity assertion is null.

Warning: if you recently created a new account, or an account status has been corrected, please wait at least 4 hours before attempting to sign-in.
- Sign-out and verify a personal employee or student account is being used to sign-in. If this does not resolve the issue, select the "Request Assistance" option to submit a ticket and request having the account records updated to be marked as "personal".
- If you are signed in to Microsoft 365 services with another organization, create a new browser profile for @uidaho.edu access, or sign-in with a private browser window.
Note: It may take up to 4 hours for the attributes to sync across all services.
