Security disabled devices

Overview

ITS may disable devices which present a risk to the security or stability of the university network and users, per APM 30.14 https://www.uidaho.edu/governance/policy/policies/apm/30/14.

A device may be disabled for one or more of the following reasons:

Copyright Infringement

If your device has been implicated in an alleged copyright issue, your device may be disabled upon repeat offense or lack of reply to the copyright infringement notice. Check your email for any copyright infringement notices, or check your tickets at https://support.uidaho.edu/. Contact your local support team (UI staff and faculty) or the Student Technology Center (UI students) for further assistance.

Malware Infection

If a virus is detected on a device, it may be disabled with little or no advance notice to protect U of I networks. Check your email for any malware infection notices, or check your tickets at https://support.uidaho.edu/. Contact your local support team (UI staff and faculty) or the Student Technology Center (UI students) for further assistance.

Security Vulnerability

Devices with security vulnerabilities may be disabled due to lack of reply to a vulnerability notice. Check your email for any vulnerability notices, or check your tickets at https://support.uidaho.edu/. Contact your local support team (UI staff and faculty) or the Student Technology Center (UI students) for further assistance.

Other Security Issues

Devices presenting other security or compliance risks to the U of I network may be disabled. Check your email for any security related notice, or check your tickets at https://support.uidaho.edu/. Contact your local support team (UI staff and faculty) or the Student Technology Center (UI students) for further assistance.

Network Issue

Devices degrading service on the U of I network may be disabled to prevent denial of network services to other users. Check your email for any notices, or check your tickets at https://support.uidaho.edu/. Contact your local support team (UI staff and faculty) or the Student Technology Center (UI students) for further assistance.

If you are still unsure why your device was disabled, or if you have any questions, please contact your local support team for assistance at 208-885-4357 or support@uidaho.edu.
