Duo Mobile Setup

Introduction:

Enabling your mobile device with Duo Mobile is simple and easy, and will make your experience with Duo much more efficient! To start, you will need to download the Duo Mobile application on your Android or iOS device.

 

For Android:

On Android, installing duo mobile is done through the Google Play Store, shown here:

Now that Duo Mobile is installed, you can move on to the "Duo is Installed" section.

For iOS:

 

 

 

Duo is Installed:

Now that Duo Mobile is installed, go to your web browser on your phone, and navigate to any university page that will make you sign in (i.e MyUI, Canvas, etc), and sign in with your university credentials:

Once you log-in, you'll be prompted with a screen to setup your account with Duo. You'll want to tap "Start setup" at the bottom of the screen":

Next you will select what kind of device you are adding. In this case we are adding a mobile phone, so select that option, and press continue:

Now you will be prompted to enter your mobile phone number, be careful to double check that the number is correct, as it will mess up the text and call functions in the event you have to re-enable the mobile app:

After you press continue, you will be prompted to confirm the number with either a text or phone call passcode. Select whichever option works best for you, and then enter the code you receive:

Once you hit continue here, you'll be taken to the "My Settings & Devices" page. Here, you will want to press the gear next to your device, and then press "Reactivate Duo Mobile":

Once you press that, it will ask you what kind of mobile device you are using, for this example, we are using an Android device, but the process is the same on iOS, just select iPhone here instead of Android:

From here, it will ask you to install the Duo Mobile app. We have already done this, so press "I have Duo Mobile":

Duo will now bring up a page with a QR code, and alternate methods to activate Duo Mobile on your device. You will want to press "Take me to Duo Mobile instead" on this screen, and it will open the Duo Mobile app and activate your app.

Now that the app is activated, you will see an account listed in the duo mobile app when you open it up, similar to this:

To authenticate your log-in with the push notification, first log in to a university site such as Canvas or MyUI:

Then, Duo will provide you options on how to verify your login. Press "Send Me a Push":

The push will be sent as a notification to your phone. On Android, it will look something like this:

Once you click on the notification, it will bring up this menu, where you will hit "Approve"

And with that, you are all set up to use Duo Mobile whenever you need to log-in to your University Account.
