Overview
If you receive a suspicious message, you can report it as suspicious. The OIT Security team will analyze the message and provide you with confirmation if the message is safe or not.
This article outlines how to report a suspicious message for analysis in the following email clients:
The process to report a suspicious message is different for other email clients. In a desktop client, such as Mac Mail, please send the message as an attachment to abuse@uidaho.edu. If you have a mobile client, such as the iOS Mail app, you can forward the message to abuse@uidaho.edu for analysis.
Step 1
With Outlook open (for Windows or for Mac), find the message you wish to report in your Inbox and select it. Next, click on the three dots menu located in the upper right of the window as shown.

Click "Report Phish" in the drop down menu
You can also report a suspicious message in Outlook for the Web. To send the necessary information in Outlook Web, use the following steps:

Select the message you wish to report, click the icon that is a square with four squares inside () located on the far right, and click Report Phish.
Step 2
Click "Report Phish" to confirm you wish to report the message.
Step 3
A copy of the message will be sent to OIT Security and Proofpoint for further analysis. Click "Close" to exit the confirmation dialog.
The message will also be moved from your Inbox to your Deleted Items.

Open the message you wish to report. Tap the 3 dot icon in the upper left.

Tap "Report Message".

Tap "Report Phish" to confirm you wish to report the message.

The message is reported to OIT Security and removed from your Inbox. Tap OK to close the dialog.

For other email clients, or if you do not have the Report Phish button, please send suspicious messages as an attachment to abuse@uidaho.edu. To send a message as an attachment:
1. Draft a new email
2. Drag and drop the suspicious message into the body of the new email
3. Send the new email to abuse@uidaho.edu
