How to report a problem to OIT

If you are experiencing an IT problem, the best way to alert OIT is by using the "Report a problem to OIT" form found here.  The steps below outline the process of submitting the form.

Report a Problem to OIT

1) Open the "Report a Problem" Form

Skip this step if form is already open

You can get to the form several different ways.   You can click on the button at the top of this article, or you can go to the service page and click the "Submit Issue" button, as shown bellow.

2) Sign in to TDX if you have not done so already

You can tell if you are not signed in if you see the words "Sign In" in the top right corner of the page.  Click on that text to sign in.

If you see your name, you are already signed in and can skip this step.

3) Choose a Main Category

The first section of the form is a drop-down menu containing 11 categories.  Click on the drop-down menu and select the category that most closely matches your problem.  The categories are:

  • Account or Login
  • Voice and Fax Service
  • Student Computer Lab
  • Hardware and Devices
  • Desktop or Productivity Applications
  • File Storage and Sharing
  • University of Idaho Applications
  • Network
  • Security
  • Classroom Technology
  • Other

4) Select the Secondary Category

After you select the main category, a second drop-down menu will appear.  This one will contain different categories, depending on which main category you selected.  Select the secondary category that best fits your issue.

For example, if you are experiencing a problem with the application "SAS", you would first select "University of Idaho Applications (Banner, MyUI, TeamDynamix, CS Gold, etc.)", and in the second menu you would select "SAS"

5) Describe your problem in the text box.

Be sure to include your email address if you are not logged in, a description of the problem, and any steps that cause the problem to occur.

6)  Attach Any Relevant Files

If you have any files related to your ticket, such as screenshots or documents, Click the "Browse..." button to upload your files.

7)  Add Additional Contact Information if Necessary

If you are unable to access your @uidaho email, submit either a secondary email address or a phone number in the text box.

8) Click Submit

That's it, you've submitted a ticket to OIT!  You will be contacted soon.
