How to resolve OneDrive access denied errors?

Overview

OneDrive owner permissions may occasionally need to be reset. The OneDrive site owner will attempt to sign-in and receives these error messages.

OneDrive Sync Desktop Client

There was a problem connecting to OneDrive
You don't have access to this service. For help, contact your IT department. (Error Code: 0x8004e4d0)

 

OneDrive Web Client

Access Denied
username@uidaho.edu does not have permissions to access this resource.
Here are a few ideas:
->  Please ask the site admin to give you access.
-> If you have a different account, try signing in with that account.

If this problem persists, contact your support team and include these technical details:
Correlation ID: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Date and Time: 8/23/2022 1:39:37 PM
User: username@uidaho.edu
Issue Type: User does not have permissions.

 

Resolution

This issue must be address by a SharePoint Online Administrator. Submit a ticket and include a screenshot of the error message associated with the access error. Include the web site address in the screenshot as well.

The administrator will remove and re-add the OneDrive site "Owner" to correct this issue.
