Why does my recently changed password not work?

Overview

Immediately after changing your password you are unable to sign-in to Microsoft 365 services including email, OneDrive and Single Sign-On applications like VandalWeb. The password works as expected on the help.uidaho.edu web page, local computer access and the wireless network.

 

 

Solution

The University of Idaho Microsoft 365 service is using Password Hash Sync to synchronizes password changes from our on-premises Active Directory to Azure Active Directory. Although this sync is considered high priority, it can still take up to 10 minutes to fully complete. After changing your password wait 5-10 minutes before attempting to sign-in.
