Overview
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) on behalf of the university centrally licenses Adobe software for most of the University community to use. These licenses will be assigned starting July 31, 2023 for the Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) Suite, and on August 14th, 2023 for Acrobat Sign. Access to the software requires the use of your individual U of I account. Information on how to log into these software packages can be found on the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Application page.
Creative Cloud (CC) Pro License
The license includes Adobe Creative Cloud Pro for Education, which offers a comprehensive suite of applications like Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and many others. Faculity receive their access on affiliation after their EPAF is completed. Staff must register for a license by visiting the Staff Adobe LIcensing Knowlege Base. Students will receive their software notice prior to the start of their classes. This license is provided to the following groups.
- All faculty
- All benefited staff are eligible for Adobe Creative Cloud licenses, but are not automaticly licensesed, Instead staff can self enroll themselves in a group which will assign them a license. Information on this process can be found by visiting the Staff Adobe LIcensing Knowlege Base.
- Students taking specific courses where access to Adobe CC is required for coursework.

Affiliates and TH staff can still get access to Adobe by having their UI workstation or laptop licensed for the software. To get a device license contact your TSP so they can start the licensing process. You can submit a ticket here: Software Support Service
Acrobat Sign
Acrobat Sign is a product that can be used to collect e-signatures and incorporate them into business process and workflows. This has the potential to make approvals other electronic processes faster in a secure environment. Analysis and discussion of its uses is being evaluated for many things at the University. Expect there will be announcements and notifications on the future use of this product. Acrobat Sign is provided to faculty and staff who are also eligible for Creative Cloud licenses.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are Emeritus Faculty or Honored Retirees eligible to receive Adobe Software? No. This software is a limited paid license for the University. As such we do not have available licenses for any retiree groups.
- How many machines can I put the software on? You can install and make the software active on 2 machines with your license for you to use. You are not allowed to share this software with anyone as it would violate the licensing agreement.
- Are TH or graduate students eligible to receive Adobe software? Not at this time. We are working on a process to request licenses for TH employees or employed graduate students who need it for work. This will be limited to meet licensing requirements. Information will be posted in the Daily Register once this process is ready. Please reach out to your support team if access to this software is crucial for their work.
- Will CC still be available in student labs? For now we still have desktop licenses available for Student Labs.
- How do we install the software? Instructions on installing the software can be found here.
- Can we purchase Adobe software for people who are not eligible for the University license? Any software purchase should go through OIT Procurement by submitting a request. Make sure to work with your support team as we may have other options available at no cost. Software should not be purchased on a PCard.
- What information can be stored on Adobe Creative Cloud? Data can be stored on the University managed Adobe Creative Cloud service which does not exceed 'Moderate Risk' For more information on this visit the 'Approved Storage Locations' article.
