In December 2023, the Office of Information Technology worked with Vantage Technology Consulting to gather information from university constituents on the value of IT governance and data governance. Over 140 people were invited from 10 major areas with 91 people participating. These areas included:

- Institutional Research, Accreditation, and Provost's Office
- Student Affairs
- Students
- Strategic Enrollment Management
- ORED, OSP, and Research Computing
- General Council, DEI, and Strategic Initiatives
- Foundation and Advancement
- Auxilliary Services, Athletics, and Facilities
- Finance, Budget & Planning, and HR
- OIT and Technical Product Managers
All invitees were also able to see the full results and provided valuable input on drafts of the IT Governance program. The full results from the focus groups, along with a presentation summarizing them, are attached to this article.
