Overview
The account "Display Name" is used in the email From: header when sending email. For employees and students it is in the form "Lastname, Firstname (email address)".
Example: Vandal, Joe (jvandal@uidaho.edu)
When viewing your account information at https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ you may see a message under "Why can't I edit?" saying your name and job title must be updated by an admin. All display name changes are done administratively.
Name information is synchronized from the University of Idaho administrative system "Banner". Information on how to change your name is available here: https://support.uidaho.edu/TDClient/40/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=935
Name changes in Banner take up to 24 hours to be updated in the email system.
Users with an @alumni.uidaho.edu, or @gold.uidaho.edu, account may submit a form request to change your First Name, Last Name and Display Name: https://forms.office.com/r/0BrNsK1v00

It is also possible to contact the OIT Service Desk by clicking on "Request Service" and filling out the form. Be sure to include your full name and what you would like to have for your display name. We recommend using a simple "Firstname Lastname" format for the Display Name.
