The Independent Study in Idaho course catalog provides each course syllabus and any prerequisites. Please review the course syllabus to estimate your timeline, since lesson/exam counts and instructor submission policies vary.
Instructors have up to two weeks to grade work, and some require prior work graded before you continue. Once enrolled, you have up to a year to complete a course, but plan for about three months typically. If you need transcripts by a certain date, finish the course at least a month early to allow grades to post. For a three-month timeline, contact the course instructor directly (listed in the syllabus) to plan accordingly.
To start, locate your course in the Independent Study in Idaho course catalog, add a course to your cart and check out — this includes an ISI application and uploading prerequisite transcripts if needed. If you course requires a prerequisite, you will be prompted to upload it during the application process. After a short review (usually one business day), you'll get an email to complete payment. Courses typically start a couple hours after payment, in ISI's Canvas (separate from U of I's Canvas; a link will be provided). More on enrollment: ISI registration instructions
ISI courses match in-person content but cost about a third as much, with no University of Idaho admission application required.
