Check Physical Connections

  1. Secure Cable Connections: Verify cables are firmly and correctly plugged in at both ends.
  2. Inspect for Damage: Examine cables and ports for visible signs of damage or wear.
  3. Unplug and Plug Back In: Disconnect and reconnect the device to the correct port on the computer or dock.
  4. Test Another Port: Try a different port of the same type in the computer.

Change the factors

  1. Session check: To see if the issue reoccurs at startup, reboot the computer.
  2. Update check: Type System Update into the search on the taskbar, and follow all critical and recommended updates - some may effect your devices. Also go to "Updates" in the search on the taskbar for Windows specific updates to check for updates there.
  3. Account check: Ask a coworker to sign into their account on the computer and see if the device still has the same issue.
  4. Device Check: Connect the device to another computer to see if it works. This helps determine if the device itself is possibly defective or if the computer is part of the issue.
