Zoom AI Companion is a meeting assistant capable of recording, transcribing, and summarizing a Zoom meeting. It also generates texts based on the transcript and creates content for Zoom Whiteboards.
Zoom AI Companion does not use any meeting content to train its own or any other third-party AI models. For more information on how Zoom AI Companion features handle data, please refer to this Zoom help document: How Zoom AI Companion features handle your data.

Starting in the Zoom Workplace App,
- Go to your settings
- then go to "My Account"
- Click “view advanced settings” -- It will take you to the web domain
- login via uidaho.zoom.us if not already
- Go to settings again
- Click “AI Companion”
- Make sure that “Allow users to ask AI Companion questions about the meeting” is turned on.

To start AI Companion in any zoom meeting, just press the AI Companion button in the panel at the bottom of the screen.

When AI Companion is activated, the little star symbol for it will appear in the upper left corner of the meeting screen. If at any point the host or co-host wants to turn off AI Companion, they can click on this star and click on the

Keep in mind, only the host or co-host of a meeting can activate Zoom AI Companion.

After the meeting has ended, Zoom AI Companion will send a summary of the entire meeting to host in their email, which they can edit and share if they so choose. Summaries of all meetings you have hosted and summaries that have been shared with you can also be found in the web version of Zoom.

Meeting transcripts can be accessed by the host any time during the meeting by clicking "more" at the bottom of the screen and then selecting "transcript." The host can download the meeting the transcript of the meeting and edit it if there are any obvious mistakes.

AI Companion can provide information related to the current Zoom meeting based on the transcript. Meeting participants can use the suggested prompts as shown below or they can type their own questions about the meeting.

AI Companion can also tailor its answer to the language of a question. The image shown below gives examples of this feature.

Before ending the meeting, AI Companion can also be used to generate ideas for assignments or essay questions based on what was discussed in the meeting.

- Initiate AI Companion on a Whiteboard by clicking on the star symbol
- Type in your promt
- Select the output format
- Press send for it to generate

- AI can make mistakes. Always double-check the content first.
- If several meeting participants are connected through one computer in a conference room, AI Companion will not differentiate between several participants in the room.
- Don’t discuss any sensitive information (e.g., SSN) when the AI Companion is on.
- Check the recording and transcription to ensure no High Risk or Moderate Risk Data appear in the sharing. How to identify "High Risk" data?
- New features appear regularly. Please contact Classroom Collaboration Technology Service (CCTS) for updates, Zoom meeting support, and request Zoom-related training.
