Body
This document contains the following three issues:
- Old South Hill has known WiFi coverage issues.
- The North Campus Communities have known wired Internet availability issues.
- Several housing spaces have known wired Internet speed limitations.
Unfortunately, as a result of long-term administrative budgeting, there is no allocation for any improvements to these connectivity concerns. Please direct any concerns or feedback about these known issues to the University of Idaho Housing & Residence Life department because there is nothing OIT can do to improve service without additional funds.
Old South Hill has known WiFi coverage issues.
UI Housing is aware of WiFi coverage issues on the 2nd floor of South Hill apartments.
If you are experiencing weak coverage on the 2nd floor, we appreciate your understanding.
If you are experiencing weak coverage on the first floor and have not already done so, open a ticket with the Student Technology Center or contact the IT Service Desk.
The North Campus Communities have known wired Internet availability issues.
UI Housing is aware of the lack of wired network connections in select NCC rooms.
If you are in a room without wired network ports, we appreciate your understanding. There is strong wireless coverage in all NCC rooms.
If you are experiencing an issue in a room with existing wired network ports or a wireless issue and have not already done so, open a ticket with the Student Technology Center or contact the IT Service Desk.
Several housing spaces have known wired Internet speed limitations.
The OIT Network Team is aware of limited wired Internet speeds in select U of I housing locations.
If you are in a room with wired network ports that are supported by hardware capped at 100 megabits per second, we appreciate your understanding. Neither wired or wireless connections are throttled in any way, they are only limited by the hardware.
If you are experiencing an issue connecting to the Internet over wired ports or a wireless issue and have not already done so, open a ticket with the Student Technology Center or contact the IT Service Desk.
