Body

What is IT Governance?

IT governance is a university-wide effort that establishes the strategic, technical, and decision-making processes, roles, and structure necessary to align IT strategy and investments with the university’s mission and goals to ensure the effective and efficient use of IT resources and services.

Program Authority

As authorized by the University President, The Vice President for IT and Chief Information Officer (CIO) has primary responsibility to design and implement the IT governance program through collaborative work with university constituents. The CIO presents the IT governance model and charter to the President’s executive leadership for endorsement.

Guiding Principles – Our PACT

  • Positivity – serves as a primary guiding principle, shaping our interactions as a collaborative and communicative team striving for success.
  • Alignment – decisions are made, and resources allocated based on the best interests and strategic needs of the university and so that we have institutional alignment on creating the best possible experience for users of technology.
  • Collaboration – active and equitable university engagement is essential to incorporate diverse perspectives on initiatives’ impact, cost, risk, strategic value, and user experience.
  • Transparency – vital for decision-making and accountability, it provides clarity about which initiatives need oversight, how processes work and decisions are made, involves relevant stakeholders, and communicates outcomes openly.
