Overview
When the SendAs permission has been granted, for another user or group, it is possible to use that address in the "From" field. This article provides information how to change the From address in Outlook Web at https://mail.uidaho.edu/.
The first time you send as another email address you will need to configure the From address. When composing an email message click on the "Options" tab and check the box for "Show From". This will add a drop down showing your "From:" address above the To/Cc fields.
Next, click on the "From" drop down and select "Other email address..."
Search for the user or group you have permission to SendAs.
Send as a test message to yourself to verify the message can be delivered.
After setting up the From address once you will be able to Show From and select the SendAs address from the drop down.
If you will be changing the From address frequently, you will want to set the "Always show From" option in the settings.
To enable this, click on the top right gear icon and select "Compose and reply" in the menu. Scroll down and select "Always show From" and Save.
Click on the From drop down and click on the "X" next to the From address to delete.
The most common errors are regarding the lack of the SendAs permission. You must be assigned the SendAs permission directly or be a member of a group with SendAs permissions for the address.
- If you were recently added to a group you may need to wait at least 30 minutes and then sign-out and back into your your account to have the SendAs right.
- The From address may be "cached" incorrectly. This is more common with the Outlook Desktop client. The fix is to delete the From address and re-add it.
