Overview:
ITS offers Sophos antivirus for University-owned machines to help protect them from viruses and malware. If your device is not university owned (personal devices for example), Sophos offers a free home edition of their antivirus software that you can use. The free edition can be downloaded from https://home.sophos.com/.
You must have administrative rights on the computer in order to install Sophos antivirus.
Step 1:
Download the Sophos installer from https://downloads.uidaho.edu/Antivirus/cloud/SophosInstall.zip. You may need to enter your University of Idaho NetID to continue.

Step 2:
Open the Downloads folder and double click on the 'SophosInstall.zip' file. A folder should appear in your Downloads folder called 'SophosInstall'. Open this folder and double click on the file marked 'Sophos Installer'.

Step 3:
Click Install to begin the installation process.

Step 4:
The installer downloads the installation packages and installs them. This may take a few minutes.

Step 5:
If you see a prompt to trust software published by Sophos, click "Open Security Preferences".

Click 'Allow' in the window that appears to allow Sophos to install.

Step 6:
Once complete the installer should indicate the installation completed successfully.
