The goal of Data Privacy Day is to spread awareness about the importance of online privacy. Data privacy can be impactful for both individual users and the University of Idaho as a whole. This day is a reminder for us to remain vigilant with our online data.
Here are 5 ways to maintain data privacy:
- Keep your devices up to date and running the latest version of software
- Update your privacy preferences for browsers, mobile apps, and social media sites
- Clean up unneeded data on a regular basis. Deleted data is the most private
- If collecting data in your role at U of I, make sure it is done in compliance with the University of Idaho Privacy Statement and APM 30.11
- When in doubt give OIT a shout. If you have questions involving data best practices, the Office of Information Technology can be reached at support@uidaho.edu
