How do I record my show on KUOI?

Overview:

This article will go over the process to record a show on KUOI 89.3 FM. You will need a laptop capable of connecting to WiFi and running VLC.

Record Audio Stream with VLC on Windows

Step 1:

Open VLC and on the menu click the View option and then Advanced Controls. This will show the recording options in the main window.

Step 2:

On the menu click the Media option and then Open Network Stream....

Step 3:

Under Please enter a network URL: enter https://s2.radio.co/sedf30688d/listen and press Play. VLC will start playing the KUOI audio stream. You'll want to mute your laptop so the studio mic doesn't pick it up. Note that this stream is on a few second delay from what you will hear in studio.

Step 4:

When you're ready to start recording, press the Record button in the bottom of the VLC main window.

Press Record.

Step 5:

Once you're done recording press the Record button again. VLC will save a copy of your recording as a MP3 in the music folder (typically at C:\Users\user\Music).

Step 1:

On the menu click the File option and then Open Network....

Step 3:

When ready open the Playback menu and press Record. You can also press Alt+Command+R to start and stop recording.

Under Playback press Record.

Step 6:

Once you're done recording press the Record button again. VLC will save a copy of your recording as an MP3 in the default Music folder for your OS (typically at \Users\user\Music).
