The University of Idaho Student Computing Labs are a student funded system designed to meet the general computing needs of University of Idaho students. The Student Computing Advisory Committee (SCAC) provides direction and oversight and Information Technology Services maintains and manages the computing services provided to students.
ITS manages over 15 student computing labs on campus, including a 23 hour lab in the Administration Building. With approximately 500 computers, some of which are available practically 24 hours a day, students are bound to find the lab and computer that fit their academic needs.
Student Labs also offers over 50 programs installed on each Windows lab machine and over 30 programs installed on each Mac lab machine. Chances are, ITS has the program you’re looking for. But, in the rare instance we don’t offer a program that you need for a class, just ask! While results may not be immediate, if students of a particular major or class ask a faculty member to submit the Software Installation Request Form, ITS will work hard to make sure students have the software they need to succeed.
As a student, you can also request after hours access to those labs on campus open past normal building hours, such as the 23 hour Administration Building Lab as well as the Student Union Building (SUB) Lab. Simply login to the support site and request Vandal Card Access under the Miscellaneous tab. It may take up to two days to process your request and you won’t receive a confirmation notice but the next time you need to get into the SUB at 11pm, simply swipe your Vandal card at the basement doors in the north stairwell and your after hours access will be granted.
