The University of Idaho has partnered with Microsoft to
provide enhanced e-mail services for students through the
Microsoft Live Mail program. VandalMail Live offers 5 gigabytes
of e-mail storage, full calendaring service, task & note
management, scheduled e-mail reminders and an enhanced address
book. In addition, students will be able to keep their e-mail
account after they graduate.
The VandalMail Live account also provides access to a number of
other Microsoft on-line services including Live Messenger, Live
Spaces web page/blogging tool, customizable web search page and
many more...

Attention Macintosh users: We have found that Macintosh email client users have been
getting a security prompt when connecting to Vandalmail Live
that is not going away after their first login.

Accessing Spam filtering options Users
have several options when it comes to spam
filtering that range from strict to low filtering rules, as well
as options to block or allow specific senders or mailing lists.
These settings can be accessed via the Options drop
down menu and the more options... selection.
Changing the appearance of VandalMail Live
VandalMail Live is customizable. Not only are there
several color themes, but students will be able to change the
layout of reading panes.

What is the Calendaring system for? What can it do?
The Calendaring system is a personal calendar that can be
tailored to your own preference. You can log appointments, class
times, etc. This calendar can be shared with other users and can
be accessed via the web or using Windows Live Mail Desktop.

How do I access my VandalMail Live account? Students
are able to access their VandalMail Live via the
web from http://vandals.uidaho.edu/.
This web based interface is accessible using these supported
browsers: Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari.
Am I able to access my VandalMail Live account with any e-mail client?
Microsoft POP service is available. Click here for instructions for setting up POP with your @vandals.uidaho.edu account.
Is IMAP
connectivity available?
IMAP is not currently supported for VandalMail Live.
We will send out an announcement if this changes.
Does VandalMail Live save all of my sent messages?
By default VandalMail Live does not save your sent messages.
You will need to enable this feature through the options menu
under the "Customize your mail."
What can I do if my computer has difficulty loading
Windows Live E-mail?
There is a light (classic) version available. This can be changed by
logging into VandalMail Live and accessing the options page. By
switching to the light (classic) version, users can turn off some of the
features of Live, but still retains all essential e-mail
functions. You can also install Windows Live Mail Desktop on
your computer. Note: If the light (classic) version is being used,
neither the color themes nor the different reading panes will be
available.
