  POP Setup for OSX Mail in MacOS 10.4  

  1. Open OSX Mail.
     
  2. Go to the File menu at the top and select Add Account (See Figure 1).

  3. For Account Type choose IMAP, see Figure 2.

  4. Type in Your Name as you want it to appear on your emails .
     
  5. Type in your E-mail address (username@uidaho.edu) and click Continue.
     
  6. For the Incoming mail Server, type: mail.uidaho.edu

  7. Enter your User Name, the part before the @uidaho.edu in your email address.
     
  8. For the Password, type in your E-mail password and click Continue.
     
  9. Check the box for Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and set authentication to be Password and click Continue.

  10. For the Outgoing Mail Server, type: mail.uidaho.edu

  11. Enter your User Name, the part before the @uidaho.edu in your email address.
     
  12. For the Password, type in your E-mail password and click Continue.
     
  13. Check the box for Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and set authentication to be Password and click Continue.

  14. You will now see the Summary page.

  15. Hit Continue and then Done.
  16. Next hit the Mail button at the top of the Macmail application. This will bring a drop down menu, you will need to select the Preferences option.
  17. The Accounts window will show next, you will need to make sure the Accounts icon is selected, then under Outgoing Mail Server hit the Server Settings button.
  18. A new window will appear, you will need to set your Server port to 587.
  19. Hit OK and close the Accounts window, you may now check your mail by hitting the Get Mail button.
