  IMAP Setup for OSX Mail in MacOS 10.5  

1. Open OSX Mail.

2. Go to the File menu at the top and select Add Account (See Figure 1).

3. Type in Your Name as you want it to appear on your emails as well as your E-mail address (username@uidaho.edu) and corresponding password (See Figure 2).

4. Click Continue.

5. For the Incoming Mail Server (See Figure 3):

a. Select IMAP Account Type

b. Enter the Description and Incoming Mail Server as mail.uidaho.edu

c. Enter your Username (the part before the @uidaho.edu in your email address)

d. Enter your corresponding email Password

6. Click Continue.

7. For the Outgoing Mail Server (See Figure 4):

a. Enter the Description and Outgoing Mail Server as mail.uidaho.edu

b. Select the check box, "Use only this server"

c. Select the check box, "Use Authentication"

d. Enter your Username and corresponding email Password

8. Click Continue.

9. You will now see the Account Summary page. Verify the information is correct and mirrors Figure 5.  If not, click Go Back to correct any mistakes.

10. Click Create.

11. Next select Mail from the menu at the top of the Macmail application. This will bring a drop down menu.  You will need to select the Preferences option (See Figure 6).

 12. The Accounts window will show next (See Figure 7), you will need to make sure the Accounts icon and Advanced tab are selected and verify the settings below:

a. Select the check box, "Enable this account"

b. Select the check box, "Include when automatically checking for new mail"

c. Enter Port 993

d. Select the check box, "Use SSL"

e. Select Password from the "Authentication" drop down menu.

13. Close the Accounts window.  You may now check your mail by hitting the Get Mail button.
