When an email is deleted Outlook and Outlook Web Access users
will have the email go in their Deleted Items folder for 14
days. In addition Exchange offers a new feature called the
dumpster. The dumpster will store messages for 14 more
days after they have been removed from your Deleted Items
folder.
- Outlook Web Access users will be able to go
to Options,
to Recover Deleted Items. If they click on
View Items they will see the email they have deleted.
To recover, select the item and click Recover.
Click Close to exit.
- Outlook Users can select their Deleted Items folder
and then go to Tools->Recover Deleted
Items to retrieve messages they have emptied from
Deleted Items. To recover an item select it and
click on the Recover icon in the upper left.
Click on the X in the upper right to exit.
- Non-Outlook users will need to come into the Help
Desk for help with Email Recovery.
